Whether you pushed me or pulled me,
drained me or fueled me,
stayed by my side or left me,
loved me or hated me,
hurt me or helped me,
you are part of my growth,
and I thank you.
How do you create more meaningful relationships? Are you the type of person who has a lot of good friends or a few best friends? There is no right or wrong answer, it totally depends what type of person you are!
Ahh friendships! Friends are the best people to have in your life, any day and at any moment in time. Friends are there to keep you grounded. They are there to keep you stable, make you smile and laugh, party hard with you, cry with you, and be with you during your worst moments.
I have to say that I have some of the best friends in the world. I may not have many ‘good’ friends, but the ones that I have are the best and I would never trade for the world. This past year, I have gone through many ups and downs, and these girls have been by my side for all of them. From finding out I had an ectopic pregnancy in May to our wedding in July to finding out that I was pregnant in October with a viable pregnancy. I really did chose the best girls to be part of my wedding, I haven’t gone a week without talking with any of them since last July. I am so thankful.
How to Create More Meaningful Relationships
Be a best friend to yourself first (giving vs. receiving)
Identify who you want to build authentic relationships with
Create opportunities to know each other
Get to know your friends
Focus on the positives, not the negatives (see the beauty)
Share your life with them
Build trust first (nothing can develop without trust)
Let them in during your down times
Be there for them when they need you
** Focus on those who reciprocate your efforts (the keepers) **
Focusing on those who reciprocate your efforts is the most important to me in the entire list. It does really drain a person to give and give and give, sometimes you just need love from someone else. If you show your friends love, nine times out of ten, they will show you love and respect back.
Keep your best friends close. Show them love and respect. Listen to each other, be there for each other, cry with one another, laugh with another.
